Giricano is located in Turkey, to the north of the Tigris, near Ziyaret Tepe, but on the opposite bank.

Rescue excavations have been done consecutively of the Ilisu dam, attended by German archaeologists. They have identified there layers from the calcolithic to the Iron Age.

Tablets of Ashur-bel-kala, Assyrian king from the 11th century BC, were found there. They identify the location: the center of agricultural production of Uzibu. The tablets were prepared by a merchant living in Uzibu and Tushan. The city of Sinamu is mentioned. These texts have consolidate the location of Tushan.

The most interesting discovery is the ceramics that archaeologists date from the time of the invaders "Muski" mentioned by Tiglath-Pileser I. The dating and the extent of this type of ceramics found on other sites, confirm the annals of the Assyrian king. That would be those people who were then referred to as "people of Nairi".

The dating and dispersal of such ceramics confirm the annals of the Assyrian king on the very large extent geographical concerned. That would be those people who were later referred to as "people of Nairi".
